Making Changes

Bert and I went to the Nobel Cafe today instead of the Bluebell. Bert thought that the prices of the five piece fry did not compare favourably with the Bluebell Cafe. I pointed out that the quality and the portion sizes were superior.

In the Bluebell your woman pokes through the fadge 'til she finds the smallest piece then puts it on my plate! That's every single time.

Maybe she's trying to tell you something.
A change of venue for brunch is not the only change in the air. Bert made steps today in the direction of changing his bank from The Bunch Of Robbing Bastards Bank to The We'll Still Rob You But Not Quite As Drastically As Them Other Boys Bank. Small steps.

And I've been letting this lovely phrase roll off my tongue -

My soon to be ex-boss

More to report tomorrow when contracts are signed and ink dries.

I wonder is there still an old fashioned cafe on William Street in Ballymena near the back entrance to Fairhill? I love really old fashioned cafes with old fashioned cooks, cooking old fashioned grub :-)

Was that the Daisy May? The cooks in there were three of the scariest weemin in Ballymena.

Aye, but they made great fries.

I wonder what became of them?

There was a place in Ballymena served big plain dinners to farmers. There were two long tables seated about six and you'd be squeezed in tight in this really small room. I was in it just the once. Bert say's his da took him in quite regularly.

I think it was a red haired woman called Jeannie ran it. I've a sister used to work in it Saturdays when she was little more than a child.

I think (I may be wrong) that when you walk out of the Fair Hill and across into that outside car park, you can see the floor tiles at the edge of the park.

I'll look out for that.

One of my friends aunts worked in Daist May's. She was scary. Daisy May's was scary.

Missed out on these recent comments until just now. Daisy May's has long gone.

The eatery you're talking about Cyberscribe is Nadine's Diner. It was a great favourite of my father's when he was living and well.

Nadine's Cumberland Sausages are v.good.
