Theology and the Beauty Pageant

'In the Bible it says marriage is between Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.' (Charmaine Koonce, the mother of Miss New Mexico USA Bianca Carla)

One of my father's favourite ways of opening a discussion was to say.

"Now I'm no theologian but...."

Like Daddy, I'm no theologian either, but this I do know. There is no one in the bible called Steve.

Some other things I know,

Leprechauns do not exist.
Santa Claus does not live in Lapland.
The Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy are imaginary concepts.
The bible and the koran are books.
Statues do not weep human tears.
Irish people rarely eat corned beef and cabbage.

There's a Stephen in the Bible [ http://www.biblebb.com/files/pniv/STEPHEN.TXT ] maybe his mates called him Steve.

AND... I know I was not found under a gooseberry bush!

That would be his mates Phil, Procky, Nic and Tim then?

And - it was a rhubarb plant I was found under.

I had bacon and cabbage for dinner last night.

I suppose I should accentuate the 'and' in corned beef and cabbage. At least it's a more manageable dish than the raw beefsteaks and barrowfuls of porter, as supposed by Dickens' horrible Lady Tippins.

I know a leprechaun called Steve who actually thinks the tooth fairy is gay.

Do I hear wedding bells?

There is a rumor that I was the love child of a leprechan named Steve and the Easter Bunny and they abandoned me under a cabbage plant, where I was found by the people who reared me as one of there own.

I am inclined to believe this story since I am certain I cannot be related to those people who claim they are my parents.

I'm believing the leprechaun but doubting the Easter Bunny.

Sadly I cannot disown my mother as she looks much too like me. It frightens me.
