Here, a visiting nurse came once a week and and checked vital signs and did a dressing for my dad. I did his twice a day (minimum) dressings and all his personal care. My dad had serious medical and dementia problems that kept me busy providing care around the clock. I actually felt suicidal at times because I was so exhausted.

Bless your government that does something for the people instead of spending all your money for wars.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8102969.post-85470710717292055542008-06-12T16:40:00.000+01:002008-06-12T16:40:00.000+01:00I went to say hi to Pearlie today and was greeted ...I went to say hi to Pearlie today and was greeted with her baring her teeth at me. Don't people always complain? But we are fortunate here to have the extra help. The care at home is provided by social services and it costs nothing. Care in a home costs depending on the person's circumstances.

As I said most of the care is good enough but there are a few carers who don't seem to remember that their clients are real human people.Nellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14527285652038975147noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8102969.post-53157184680561415142008-06-12T02:06:00.000+01:002008-06-12T02:06:00.000+01:00When (if) you get to feeling down, you can go back...When (if) you get to feeling down, you can go back and reread that story by Mary Webb.

Are the carers employed by an agency, or are they volunteers? Strikes me that they don't need to be grumbling about things in the hearing of their client.

Here, such care depends on the health insurance of the client. Addy was entitled to a couple of weeks worth of visits when she came home after breaking her hip. They taught me how to care for her, including injecting drugs into her "shunt," or whatever they called it, and cleaning and debriding her heel, which had a huge festering sore that would not heal. I hated doing that, as I knew it hurt her, but I had to stay cheerful about it and not let her know how useless I felt. I would have given my eye teeth for somebody to come in and help her up, down, and to the bathroom and shower.Ronnihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02062796442588373271noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8102969.post-84365963674983473282008-06-12T00:02:00.000+01:002008-06-12T00:02:00.000+01:00Good advice indeed.
