We brought two tortoiseshell kittens into the house about 20 years ago and introduced them to the matriarch Golden Labrador, Jade. She took one sniff, tucked her tail between her legs and went off upstairs in high dudgeon.
Of course, as soon as she felt she'd been away from the fireplace for long enough she came back down.
Like Bonnie, she took on the (in her case an unwanted) mantle of substitute Mom. The only way she could square the circle was to think of them and treat them as honorary dogs.
How adorable..dogs are so cute when it comes to cats....sometimes

ReplyDeleteWhen the cats separate there's a little bit of flying fur rolls off the sofa. I like that bit.
Bonnie really is very tolerant of the moggies! I love the slightly worried expression on her face.

She reminds me of a poor, harrassed mother who just doesn't know what to do with her badly behaved teenagers!
