Who could have imagined back then that our cheaply processed and terribly disappointing photographs could, more than half a century later, be brought back to their full digital glory? There may have been plenty of photographs of the young brother, but hardly any of the beloved red dog. And while the photographer delights in her restored memories, her pleasure is tempered by prophecies of doom and the coming end of the world. How fleeting is happiness.
